LONG BIO
JENÉE & THE GETAWAY is an indie/alt-pop band from the Portland, Oregon area, fronted by Jenee Rachelle. Blending honest storytelling with infectious melodies, this music is equally at home in headphones, on a late night drive, or filling a room with singalong choruses.
Jenee’s path into music was not conventional. Just a couple years ago, she was working as a dental assistant until developing tumors in her hands forced her to rethink her future. For the first time, she gave herself permission to pursue a creative life she had always talked herself out of, believing she’d “never make it” before she even tried.
What started as painting became poetry, and poetry eventually became songwriting. After writing her first song, something clicked. Music quickly transformed into a way to make sense of life’s highs, lows, and everything in between. Every song is rooted in real experiences, with the hope that someone else might see their own story reflected in the lyrics.
Backed by THE GETAWAY, those deeply personal songs come alive with energetic performances, memorable harmonies and an indie-pop sound. Whether playing local venues, community events, or festivals, JENÉE & THE GETAWAY strives to create the kind of show where audiences leave humming the choruses, feeling a little more connected, and excited for what’s next.
ONE-LINER
Heart-on-your-sleeve songwriting, big choruses and an indie-pop vibe that feels as good live as it does on the drive home.
